  7.          Installation Notes for the Flight Unlimited Patch vF2.4S
  8.  
  9. This patch contains following bug fixes and enhancements:
  10.  
  11. 1.  Updated Sound Blaster drivers that allow Flight Unlimited to 
  12.     recognize a wider range of Sound Blaster compatible sound cards.
  13.  
  14. 2.  New code which eliminates graphical trails caused by mouse movement on
  15.     the screen.
  16.  
  17. 3.  FBO travel bug fixed.  On some machines, if you didn't fly a plane while
  18.     in a terrain area you couldn't travel back to your previous FBO.
  19.  
  20. 4.  New code for joystick hat calibration which should fix the spinning
  21.     cockpit and views caused by improper hat calibration with Thrustmaster
  22.     & Logitech Wingman joysticks.
  23.  
  24. 5.  New code for joystick calibration which should fix joystick non-detection
  25.     and also joystick miscalibration. 
  26.  
  27. 6.  Throttle calibration bug.  On several combinations of game card, machine
  28.     and joystick, the joystick throttle calibration only gave you from 50% to
  29.     max.  This should be fixed.
  30.  
  31. 7.  New code which traps and avoids the divide overflow error caused by old
  32.     mouse drivers.  We also recommend using a MS Mouse driver version 8.20a or higher.
  33.  
  34. 8.  There are two fixes to the video code.  The first caused Flight to not
  35.     recognize certain video cards as being  VESA 2.0 compliant.  The second
  36.     kept the palette from being initialized correctly on certain video cards.
  37.     Please note that the univbe driver supplied with Flight Unlimited will
  38.     *not* work with the Matrox Millennium video card.  If you chose to install
  39.     univbe then you will need to either re-install and answer no when asked
  40.     if you would like to install univbe, or start Flight by typing  "flight
  41.     +nounivbe" (minus the quotes, of course), then press enter.

  43. 9.  Starting Flight by typing "flight +nothrottle" (minus the quotes) at
  44.     the command line or putting "nothrottle" on a blank line in you
  45.     flite.cfg file kills the joystick throttle.  If you don't want joystick
  46.     throttle or if you're using 2 joysticks, one as main control, one as
  47.     rudder, you won't get throttle changes.
  48.  
  49. 10. People having headset detection problems particularly of the virtual i/o
  50.     eyeglasses should NOT run from windows 95.  Also, if the system has
  51.     problems detecting the virtual i/o you should add +vio at the command
  52.     line or add "vio" to your flite.cfg.  This prevents flight from trying to
  53.     autodetect any other kind of headset which appears to cause problems on
  54.     some machines.

  56.     INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS
  57.  
  58. 1.  Make sure patch diskette is in the A: drive of your computer
  59. 2.  At a dos prompt, switch to the flight directory on your hard drive.
  60.     The dos command for this would be: cd\flight <press enter>
  61. 3.  Copy the file fupat24.exe into the flight directory.  The dos command for
  62.     this would be: copy a:\fupat24.exe <press enter>
  63. 4.  Type "fupat24.exe" (minus the quotes) <press enter>
  64. 5.  Type "patch" (minus the quotes) <press enter>
  65. 6.  Type "go" (minus the quotes) <press enter>
  66.  
  67. The patch is now installed and you can start Flight as you normally would.
  68.  
  69.                                OPERATION NOTES    
  70.  
  71. It is a good idea after installing the patch to recalibrate the joystick.
  72. An easy way to do this is to press alt-j from the FBO.  This will take you
  73. into the joystick calibration routine.  If you still have problems
  74. calibrating your joystick please hold it in place for 1 second after you push
  75. it's button in each of the positions you are asked to move it to during the
  76. calibration procedure.
  77. If you have a Wingman Extreme select Thrustmaster in the joystick calibration
  78. box.  You will be asked to move your joystick hat to all 4 corners.  Please
  79. move the hat slowly and make sure to move it all the way to the corners.
  80. CH joysticks use a different method of sending hat data and will calibrate
  81. automatically.

  83. You should make sure that the throttle is not pushed all the way away from
  84. you when you start Flight.  That can result in the throttle not being
  85. detected at all.  Pull it all the way towards you, or center it before
  86. running Flight.
